Graduates Support No Comments

Hi PhotoReaders,

As most of you already know by now, to help you stay on top with all the books that you want to read, we have started a monthly ‘Read-a-Book’ program for you.

Here is how the program goes: On the first Monday of every month, you will receive a ‘Read-a-Book’ email and the program for each day of the week – and it’s just 30minutes a day!

Here is your monthly reminder for November ‘Read-a-Book’ week that begins Monday, 02 November 2009.  I’m doing “The Learning Revolution”. Do you have your book picked out yet?

The purpose is to develop stronger activation, to train your brain to perform in the 30-minute periods of time, and to help you get more value from books.

Ready — Set — Flip!

Best,

Jean

P/S: Share with other PhotoReaders the book that you’ve picked out for this month here!  Let’s keep one another motivated and PhotoReading!

P/P/S: Please check your email for the 30-minutes-only per day program to apply on your selected book.

Questions on PhotoReading

Events No Comments

Hi Graduates,

I received an email from another graduate on some problems he encounter during PhotoReading . I would like to share them with you so that you can benefit from his questions too.

Here’s an excerpt of his email:

Problems encountered during PhotoReading:

1. How do I deal with the distractions when PhotoReading?
2. How can I absorb faster and remember what I studied?
3. What type of music is suitable for studying and relaxing?

My Reply:

Before you read the rest of this email, I request that you get into Alpha mind so that you can better absorb the tips I’ll be sharing with you.

Question 1:
One of the other graduates also asked about dealing with distractions. Remember what you focus on, expands.  So, focus on PhotoReading by choosing to.  You can do this with this: affirm what you want as you’re in Alpha ‘Outside noises that are unimportant to me will help me focus and PhotoRead even better.’

Question 2:
A relaxed state of mind helps accelerate absorption.  So, getting into Alpha mind is one of the ways to relax too.  When PhotoReading, stating your affirmations to yourself is also important as well.

Super-reading and dipping for answers to questions, even within the chapters in the textbook will help you remember what you study even better.  The more active and purposeful you are, the greater your retention and ability to apply your knowledge.

Question 3:
Yes, you’re right that music is a great tool to help us relax and focus.  As we spoke about in class, classical music – especially baroque music – is especially good for studying.  Try Mozart, Bach……  You can purchase this genre of music in any music store or even over the internet.

Or you can try iMusic:

Jean

Read-A-Book Questions

Graduates Support No Comments

I received an email from one of our graduates on some questions she has on the 5-day program.  I reckon it is a good idea that I share them with you so that you too,  can benefit from her questions.  I do not know if she wants her name made known and so have not done so here.

Here’s an excerpt of her email:

“I have just photoread The Present.  Questions:

1)  Is it ok if I photoread a book while my radio is on?

2) Sometimes I am aware that my eyes shifted to another point instead of focusing at the middle of the book. Is this alright?

 3) Do you want me to activate The Present?  I can use the mind map or answer created questions regarding the text.”

My reply:

Well done my dear!  The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.  I am so glad that you took the first step of PhotoReading your book.  Keep it up! And keep our Read-a-book Monday dates ok.  You are doing great.

Let me address your questions:

(1) It’s prefectly fine unless you’re very distracted by it.  If you’re really very distracted, you can do 2 things.  One, switch off the radio.  Two, affirm what you want as you’re in Alpha ‘Outside noises that are unimportant to me will help me focus and PhotoRead even better.’  The latter is especially useful if you have no control over the radio knob!

(2) As much as possible, keep your Photofocus gaze steady.  Constant shifting may disrupt your state.  So, if you discover that your gaze have shifted, simply bring them back to the center of the book again.  It’s ok.  As you develop your PhotoReading muscle more, your gaze will also become more steady.

(3) Well you can choose to activate the book if you want to.  I find The Present a book that I’ll rapid read instead of super reading and dipping, simply because I want to enjoy the story more.  And to make it even more relevant to my life, I’ll postview it first with questions as to how I can practically apply the principles in my life.

Do write me on your experience and you know I’ll be happy to clarify any further questions.

Cheers, Jean
